A house and a poppy quilt blocks video tutorial

Let’s make 2 blocks I particularly like: a house and a poppy.

I’ve been planning to make a tree to complement the house but I haven’t got around making one yet.

The poppy block can be made in non traditional colours as well. Have a look at the end of each tutorial the some of the possible layouts.

My book Turnabout Patchwork

“Turnabout Patchwork. Simple quilts with a twist” is all about playing with blocks – making a block, slicing it up, and turning or repositioning the pieces to make a completely different block (sometimes two smaller blocks) to yield endless quilt tops.

  1. Thank you Teresa,…love these……the Poppy could be made in different petal colours (pastels) and a different centre (? yellow) for a childs quilt. I’ve always wanted to make a childs “house” quilt,……Thank you!! Stay warm if you can, Elizabeth

  2. I am on one of these, but not yet sure on how to quilt them (not FMQ…). Can you please give me some hints? The flowers will be în 2 sizes spread on a neutral-solid background.

  3. I see… I need to think more over it, straight lines are among my solutions too, but only for the background. Maybe in the ditch or echo… I’ll let you know. All the best!
