12″ scrappy spool quilt block video tutorial

Spool block is a classic.

This 12″ version is quick and easy to make. It’s also perfect to make it scrappy or to use your favourite prints. Use fabrics with high contrast for better results.

Cutting instructions

In the light blue print cut:

  •  2 squares 4” x 4”
  •  2 rectangles 3 1/2” x 6 1/2”

In the medium blue print cut:

  • 1 square 6 1/2”

In the navy fabric cut:

  • 2 squares 4” x 4”
  • 2 rectangles 3 1/2” x 6 1/2”

Finished size

12″ x 12″.

My book Turnabout Patchwork

“Turnabout Patchwork. Simple quilts with a twist” is all about playing with blocks – making a block, slicing it up, and turning or repositioning the pieces to make a completely different block (sometimes two smaller blocks) to yield endless quilt tops.
