Let’s get ready for winter with this patchwork and milky infinity scarf.
You may find sewing minky is a bit tricky but I used lots of pins to stop the piece from moving and it was fine. All imperfections are hidden by the fur so it’s very forgiving to work with too.
Choose a thick minky fabric so it feels more wintery.
I used Michael Miller fabrics and minky to make this infinity scarf.
- Snuggle Bella minky in light pink – beautiful and super soft.
- Strata in assorted colours
- Cotton couture assorted solids in matching colours – I love Cotton couture, the best brand for solids
The second project is one of my favourite items: a microwave/ice cream bowl. If you haven’t made a microwave bowl yet, have a go. It’ll become one of the most useful things in the kitchen overnight.
A note on materials
Use 100% cotton for fabric, batting and thread. I have a number of bowls and I’ve used them many times and none of them has caught fire. They don’t even get hot. You’ll notice the fabric I used is metallic but it’s actually plastic. I’ve tested out and it works fine, just as many plastics are fine in the microwave.
If you don’t trust your batting, you can use Wrap-N-Zap which is designed for microwave use.

My book Turnabout Patchwork
“Turnabout Patchwork. Simple quilts with a twist” is all about playing with blocks – making a block, slicing it up, and turning or repositioning the pieces to make a completely different block (sometimes two smaller blocks) to yield endless quilt tops.
Buy individual chapters of my book
Now that my publisher is going out of business I have bought the rights to publish my book. Now you can download individual chapters. Each digital download is a bundle with 4 quilt patterns in it.
As well as the instructions and fabric needs to make the blocks you’ll find a section on quiltmaking basics at the end of the pattern that discusses:
- Tools
- Squaring up blocks
- Borders
- Assembly and quilting
- Binding

Hello Teresa,
Thank you for your easy to understand videos. I just watched the tutorial for a microwave bowl holder. I will be definitely making these this weekend. I’m tired of jostling hot bowl directly from the microwave. My girls will like this for their morning oatmeal also.
Have a nice week, Beth (near Montreal Canada) ________________________________
