Great! Don’t forget trimming off the half square triangles as advised.

Great idea, I thought of making the half square triangles a bit larger so I can trim them like little soldiers, all nicely aligned!

Any idea how much material would be needed to make a standard size quilt using only block 16? All ideas are appreciated. Thanks.

You need four 7 inch squares per block, so 64 squares in total. according to the free app Quilt calculator that’s about 2 1/4 yards of fabric in total. Then you need to add the sashing and backing. I’ll post more fabric needs details on another post.
I’d recommend you select 4 or 5 fat quarters and a couple of yards for white/cream fabric and work combining them

Carla, I reread your comment and realised you only wanted to use block 16. So you probably can do the blocks with 1 1/4 to 1/2 yards of each fabric plus white fabric for sashing if used.

If I want my blocks to be 17 inches when finished, what size squares would I need to start with?
