The granny square quilt block is a popular crochet pattern that originated in the early 1900s. The exact history of the granny square is not known, but it is believed to have developed from traditional African crochet motifs that were brought to Europe and then spread to North America.
Granny squares can be made coordinated or scrappy, and 2 1/2″ fabric strips are perfect for this block.
Similarly Five chain quilt block is also easily made with jelly rolls like you can see on the video below.
