Ice cream and microwave bowl cozy – video tutorial

Microwave bowl cozies can double up as ice cream bowls.

Microwave bowls make great Christmas gifts and are perfect gifts for teachers.

On this video I make two different types of bowls. One is turned inside out and the other one is finished with bias tape.

Use 100% cotton fabric, thread and batting so it doesn’t burn in the microwave.

I only use them to heat up food for 2 or at most 3 minutes with no issues. You’ll have to test how long for you can put your bowls in the microwave.

If you use the bowls for cold food you don’t need to worry about the above. I wanted to use these bowls for cold food so I used metalics instead of 100% cotton but I’ve put them in the microwave for over 3 minutes at full blast and they were fine.

How to make a microwave or ice cream bowl cozy

I tested the bowls in the microwave and the fabric is fine. The metallic paint seems to do well in the microwave as well.
