This technique has been around for a while but it always generates great looking blocks.
Use 2 or 3 colours to increase the variety of designs.

I really like this technique, but I’d want to make much larger blocks, 12 inches finished. Now I have to sit down and try and work out what size I need to make the original squares 🙂

I can’t help with that. I only know basically any staring size will produce a block.
