How to make a 3″ heart block

3" heart quilt block

I love making small blocks. If you also enjoy working with small blocks and want to create some, an easy way to start is with 3″ blocks. They’re a great size—not too big and not too small, just perfect for a variety of projects.

One of my favourite projects featuring these blocks is a mini quilt I named Tiny Quilt— I know, the name isn’t very imaginative, but it perfectly captures the essence of the quilt. This mini quilt is a delightful way to experiment with different block designs and colour combinations on a smaller scale.

Tiny quilt

This block belongs to my Tiny quilt. You can download the template for free from my Patreon page as a paid member.

You can find the pattern for Tiny Quilt in my Etsy shop.

Each pattern comes with a comprehensive tutorial and two sets of templates, allowing you to choose between traditional template piecing or foundation piecing.

Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced quilter, these detailed instructions will guide you through each step of the process, making it easy and enjoyable to create your own beautiful mini quilt.
