How to make a Port and starboard quilt block

Port and starboard was designed by Nancy Cabot in 1937.

At the end of the video you’ll see a variety of quilt layouts with this bock.

Cutting directions

  • 2 squares, 4″ x 4″ in light green
  • 2 squares, 4″ x 4″ in dark blue
  • 2 squares, 3 7/8″ x 3 7/8″ in dark blue
  • 1 square, 7 1/4″ x 7 1/4″ in dark blue
  • 1 square, 4 3/4″ x 4 3/4″ in light blue
  • 4 squares, 3 7/8″ x 3 7/8″ in red

Finished size

12″ x 12″.
