This is a fun block to make. There’re no points to match and you can get creative with the use of fabrics and even turn this quilt into a scrappy quilt.
Let’s start.
Fabrics
The fabrics I used are by Nerida Hansen. The fabrics are 100% GOTS certified organic cotton printed with low impact dyes.

My book Turnabout Patchwork
“Turnabout Patchwork. Simple quilts with a twist” is all about playing with blocks – making a block, slicing it up, and turning or repositioning the pieces to make a completely different block (sometimes two smaller blocks) to yield endless quilt tops.
Buy individual chapters of my book
Now that my publisher is going out of business I have bought the rights to publish my book. Now you can download individual chapters. Each digital download is a bundle with 4 quilt patterns in it.
As well as the instructions and fabric needs to make the blocks you’ll find a section on quiltmaking basics at the end of the pattern that discusses:
- Tools
- Squaring up blocks
- Borders
- Assembly and quilting
- Binding

Teresa, This is a very cool pattern and very easy to do. Thank you so very much! I’m going to make one in scrappy fabrics. Jean

Teresa, you make these seem so easy. I have never correctly made the half rectangle, even with the help of a supposed ruler. I will try your version. Maybe I can make these without frustration Thanks so much.
