I usually finish my quilts with free motion.
To do free motion quilting, you will need to use a darning foot and lower the feed dogs of your machine so you can move the quilt sandwich freely.

Start small.
Free motion is not hard but it requires quite a few hours of practice to get confident at it.
Above all be patient. Your first attempts may be awful but don’t give up. Practice makes perfect.

Hi Teresa,
Can you do a tutorial on how to transfer a quilting pattern to a quilt for quilting?

Hi Celene. Thank you for the suggestion. I’ve never done any fancy quilting that requires pattern transfer. Actually quilting is my least favourite thing in the whole process. I have a domestic machine so just doing straight lines and stippling is hard enough 🙂 But I’ll look at the whole topic and see if there’s something I can learn from it and then pass on the knowledge to others.
