I have been so busy I forgot to share the news!
The latest Aimee Ray’s book Patchwork Embroidery was released in November 2016.
I contributed 3 projects to the book. I designed and made the projects and worked with Aimee on the art work.
All the projects have a patchwork component as well as embroidery.
Have a look at my projects. Which one do you like best?
A lunch box
A tic-tac-toe board
This one is my favourite and the easiest to make of the 3.
Australian animals baby book
The book is beautiful, as all Aimee’s books are. I totally recommend it – disclaimer: I’m not making any money out of this book because I made the projects on commission.
The stitches I used are very simple. You can learn them with this video:

My book Turnabout Patchwork
“Turnabout Patchwork. Simple quilts with a twist” is all about playing with blocks – making a block, slicing it up, and turning or repositioning the pieces to make a completely different block (sometimes two smaller blocks) to yield endless quilt tops.
Buy individual chapters of my book
Now that my publisher is going out of business I have bought the rights to publish my book. Now you can download individual chapters. Each digital download is a bundle with 4 quilt patterns in it.
As well as the instructions and fabric needs to make the blocks you’ll find a section on quiltmaking basics at the end of the pattern that discusses:
- Tools
- Squaring up blocks
- Borders
- Assembly and quilting
- Binding
I love the tic tac toe board but wherever can you find fabric as perfect as that. Laura

They all look well made. I don’t need a lunch box or baby book but I like the tic tac toe game. I’ve seen different tutorials for this game and they never seem to mention that players needs 5 ‘counters’ each. Your fabric choice is good though 🙂

I love the lunch bag. If I brought it to work, I would want to leave it out on my desk to be admired!
I bet a lot of work went into the animal book.
As already mentioned, your fabric choices were inspired.

The animal book was quite a bit of work because I had to work out everything. First time items always take longer 😊
