This block is part of my Textured 4-patch quilt. I understand that many people perceive smocking as a challenging technique, which can be discouraging. That’s why I created this instructional video to show just how EASY and enjoyable smocking can be! In the video, we’ll walk through the process step-by-step, breaking it down into manageable sections that will leave you feeling confident and inspired to try it yourself.
Fidget quilts, particularly those designed for babies, are excellent candidates for creative fabric manipulation. By incorporating various materials such as soft velvets, crinkly fabrics, and contrasting cottons, these quilts provide comfort while encouraging tactile exploration.
Engaging patterns and vibrant colors can stimulate a child’s sensory development, making each quilt a unique combination of artistry and functionality.
I made my quilt as a way to explore several fabric manipulations, and I enjoyed it so much that I’ve created over 40 different fabric manipulations and 2 quilts.
