The importance of colour in quilting

Another important principle is value, which refers to the relative lightness or darkness of a color.

Using fabrics with varying values can create depth and dimension in a quilt, while using fabrics with similar values can create a flatter and less interesting design.

When choosing colors for a quilt, it’s also important to consider the intended use of the quilt.

For example, a quilt intended for a child may benefit from bright, playful colors, while a quilt intended for a more formal setting may require a more subdued color scheme.

Finally, it’s important to trust your instincts when it comes to color choices.
