No news from YouYube

Here’s a quick update on the video situation: It’s Saturday, and I typically release a new video today, but not this time. Unfortunately, YouTube has not responded to my latest inquiry yet.

I attempted to contact them through their chat feature, but they informed me that they are unable to communicate with me while the other case is still ongoing.

To provide evidence of my case, I’m sharing some screenshots of my traffic and revenue. I noticed that as soon as my videos became successful and my revenue increased, YouTube restricted my monetization within a few days.

I’m hoping that someone out there who knows more about YouTube statistics can offer advice on what to look at.

As I continue to read more about “invalid traffic,” it’s becoming increasingly clear to me that YouTube is not a reliable service. Even large channels with over 300K subscribers are being affected, and it’s disheartening to hear that some people are losing their livelihoods due to this issue.

The problem has been ongoing since at least November of last year. It’s frustrating that YouTube can cut you off without any real recourse, leaving you feeling like just a number to them.

I’m currently exploring Patreon as an alternative, but I want to ensure that not all of my work is behind a paywall. I’m considering an entry-level price point that’s equivalent to the cost of a cup of coffee per month, so that most people can join.

However, I’m not sure if this solution will work for everyone, so I welcome any thoughts or feedback in the comments section.

  1. I am new on your list Teresa. So sorry this is happening. Sounds like somebody is getting mighty greedy and then stealing the livelihood of honest people. Keep fighting! I’ll switch to your new platform if needed.

  4. I am sorry this has happened to you and others. Maybe they are having hacking troubles. I look forward to your posts and enjoy watching and the music. I am a very visual person so don’t need elaborate directions.
Good Luck and hope to see this resolved.

  5. I am so sorry and angry to hear of all your trouble and frustration. I am not a very talented quilter, but enjoy your posts and tips tremendously and have learned much from you. You are such a wonderful connection for quilters all over the world. Hang in there. We are all rooting for you!

  6. So sorry to hear of the problems you are experiencing with YouTube. I am relaying a couple of possible alternatives that my husband suggested you might want to check out, one suggestion is called Rumble and the other is Vimeo. I know nothing about either of those platforms but hopefully you will find something soon.
I appreciate all of the hard work you do to teach us wonderful quilting techniques that are easy enough for us beginners and yet beautiful and detailed enough for advanced quilters. I thank you very much for the many wonderful patterns you have shared with us over the years.

  7. Is there a local reporter who does consumer oriented stories near you that might want to broadcast your story? People need to hear about this issue in general. Best wishes to you. So frustrating!

  9. There is another platform that is free to readers but I don’t know if you get paid and I can’t remember the name.

  10. Dear Teresa, I really enjoy and watch all of your videos.Patreon may be a way to go. I subscribe to support a couple of mountain dulcimer musicians. They usually offer different tiers of payment. I applaud you for wanting to keep it free and accessible. I don’t know if Patreon has a minimum. Everyday I have to tell myself Technology is my friend, but it’s the people who blame the algorithims that are a little iffy. Perhaps that’s why women love dogs, horses, cats, birds, plants and even rocks. Keep up the good work. Tina Ross

  13. Oh Teresa, it’s way over the head of this “oldie” here………seems to be a bug of sorts….others are having the same problem. “Quilting with LKennedy” has lost everything……….hang in there until it’s resolved….we’re with you,…… Wishing you well, Elizabeth

  14. Just so you know I will not ever go to patreon, hubby is on disability so extra money no matter how small, we do not drink coffee either, is beyond my payable money. Every penny must be counted in our case. I do wish you luck. Plenty of free sites and you can earn on Rumble as well.
