Mini flying geese quilt block – Tiny quilt QAL

Flying geese is a classic block. I love the small version of this block.

The block finished size is 3″ x 3″.

The video demonstrates how to make the block with foundation piecing. In such small sizes I find foundation piecing is a lot easier to get an accurate block than using traditional piecing.

You don’t like foundation piecing?

Not to worry, traditional templates are also available on my Etsy shop.

What kind of paper do I use?

I usually use regular copy paper but in small sizes it can be a bit thick.

You can use special paper for foundation piecing if you prefer.

What ruler do I use on the video?

I always avoid buying specialty rulers because I find I can do most things with my square and rectangular rulers. I however discovered the Add a quarter ruler recently and I’m sold on it. If you intend to make a lot of foundation piecing I’d say it’s essential you get one. It’s such a time saver.

So, let’s get to it!

  1. Teresa, the video won’t open. Says it is private. I’m happy for the foundation piecing and the practice. Am enjoying it very much and agree about the add-a-quarter ruler. It is a huge help.

Thanks for your hard work on this blog. I have learned alot.
