Step-by-Step guide to a Squash Blossom quilt block

In today’s video we’re making a Squash Blossom quilt block, a traditional design with roots in American and Native-influenced work, particularly from the Southwest. The name comes from the squash blossom motif commonly seen in jewellery and textiles, rather than from the plant itself. Built around a strong central feature and bold surrounding shapes, this block relies on contrast and accurate piecing to keep the design crisp. It works well as a statement block or repeated across a quilt.
