This is one of those fun blocks that begins with two squares, giving you a great canvas to be creative. You can make it in different sizes, but for this example, I’ve chosen a 10-inch pre-cut, often called a layer cake, which is a set of squares used in quilting that makes things a lot easier.
Layer cakes are very popular with quilters and crafters because they come with a variety of matching fabric squares, making it easy to create beautiful designs without much hassle.
By mixing and matching the squares, you can add bright colors and interesting patterns, turning a simple idea into a stunning piece of art.

The demo uses pre-cut 10″ squares, also called layer cakes, from the Michael Miller Collection Fairy Frost Metallic. In red and green this would make a great Christmas quilt.
