I didn’t want to miss the opportunity to share this year’s quilted decoration.
I used the same foundation piecing template in 3 sizes: 3″ x 3″, 2 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ and 2″ x 2″.
I chose to turn the larger sizes into tree ornaments and the small one into a brooch.
Other ideas for these blocks are: coasters, fridge magnets, pin cushion.
Have a look at the ornaments on this video:

This download is for 3 foundation piecing template blocks featuring Santa.
To make the blocks into ornaments, cut a square the same size as the block, place block and square right sides placing together.
Place a piece of ribbon folded in half between the square and the block where you will hang the ornament with the ribbon edges facing the edges of the square.
Then sew around the square with a 1/4″ seam allowance leaving a 1″ opening to turn the bag inside out.
Fill with polyfill.
When filled use a ladder stitch to sew the opening.
Some recommendations
I used regular copy paper but you may find it to be a bit thick. You can use special paper for foundation piecing if you prefer.
Note: I recently started to use an Add a quarter ruler, the yellow ruler in the video, after some followers recommended it and I have to say it’s a true time saver.
