This is one of those blocks that gives the impression of curves where there’re none. I chose to make it with paper piecing because it’s just easy. It’s also a good block to learn foundation piecing with.
When you cut the fabric pieces, cut them at least 1/2″ larger than the triangle including the seam allowances.

I would like to make this, but how large do I need to cut the pieces of fabric. I’d cut squares and rectangles, not triangles. Also, do you have line drawing/ picture of this for say a 3 x 3 block quilt? I want to make a mini-quilt but would like to color a few sheets first for a full visual before diving in. Thank you!

You could make yourself a triangle template that is 1/2” to 1” larger than the real triangle. You can get a colouring page from my Facebook group.
