I’ve discovered a new type of block that is made with a 60 degree ruler or a template. You actually make 2 different blocks at once with this technique that can be laid out as 2 separate hexagon blocks or as one single joined block like in this case.
If you don’t have a 60 degree ruler you can download the pattern:
If you plan to cut at 60 degrees a lot you may consider investing in a 60 degree ruler.
Materials
Cut 3 strips of fabric:
- 37 X 3 1/4 inches in red
- 37 X 2 3/4 inches in blue
- 37 X 1 inches in charcoal
Cut 3 more strips fabric:
- 21 X 3 1/4 inches in red
- 21 X 2 3/4 inches in blue
- 21 X 1 inches in charcoal
These 2 strips will make 6 triangles of each type, with the fabric strips inverted.
Finished size
As 2 interlaced blocks: 11 inches x 18 1/2 inches (10 triangles in total, 5 of each type).
As 2 individual blocks: 11 inch square (6 triangles in total, 6 of each type).

I think in Seahawks colors it would look like a big letter S. Gave me an idea for a game quilt.
